ASUS WAVI Xtion

March 11th, 2011 Comments off

ASUS announced innovative new motion-sensing control technology at CeBIT 2011, the first ever for the PC. WAVI Xtion combines full HD wireless media streaming with a PC-based motion-sensing interface to bring an exciting new approach to home entertainment. High definition movies, games and photos stream smoothly to HDTV over 5GHz wireless with a 25m range. Full remote control of multimedia playback, games and other applications in living room comfort becomes possible through intuitive gesture input via the Xtion Portal interface.

The motion sensing technology comes from PrimeSense and is also used in the Kinect.

Developers are promised that the Xtion PRO development kit will be available soon and I’m still watching out for more details.

I wonder if it will it be ready before the official SDK for the Kinect on the PC is made available from Microsoft?
