Have you always wanted to create your own virtual TV news program?

TVnima is an online 3D application that allows you to create a news style TV programme that can incorporate your own photos, videos and soundtrack.

Here’s a sample on You Tube, although the only one I could find is in French,

The TVnima application has been made using the Virtools toolkit which is available as part of 3DVIA from Dassault Systèmes. Find out more about Virtools at

What are Zooks?

I guess they’re best described as virtual robot insects or creatures.

You can create your own Zooks and pit them against creatures made by other people, or just create the weirdest looking Zook you can think of, using software available for download from the BBC.

Find out more at the official site for the CBBC (Childrens BBC) show BAMZOOKI.

or read about it at wikipedia

Gameware’s Creature Labs team uses artificial life programming techniques to provide the ZOOK’s autonomous movement and behaviour and integrates this with the BBC’s virtual studio system to enable real-time visualisations in a studio setting.

Dassault Systèmes announces a 3D XML plugin for Virtools. So now you can generate 3DXML files from products including Catia and SolidWorks and integrate them into Virtools Dev.

The adoption of 3D XML technology via a dedicated extension to Virtools’ solutions is the first step towards providing a complete solution for recreating the end user experience on virtual products, with real-time interactive scenarios.

Dassault has acquired Virtools a company that provides 3D Behavioural technology.

http://www.virtools.com

Virtools’ applications allow users not familiar with 3D modeling to quickly and easily add life experience to any 3D object. As an example, using the company’s technology, users can experience the shopping behavior of a typical consumer in a supermarket or visualize the ergonomics of a driver as he or she drives a car through a city.

Applications for this technology include Games, VR/Simulation, Marketing/Multimedia, Education and Technology.

The Virtools Physics Pack, which was developed in conjunction with Havok (using Havok’s physics engine), includes drag/drop behaviours to integrate physics technology for real-time 3D behaviours that can be implemented by non-programmers.

Details about Havok can be found at:
