Accel-KKR, a private equity firm, is the majority shareholder in Alias, and it is believed that Alias had been working towards an IPO.
Accel-KKR had agreed to fund potential acquisitions and boost research and development spending, support that was missing under its former parent (SGI). Alias StudioTools™ – software for design tasks from 2D sketches to production models – will add industrial design and high-end visualization capabilities to Autodesk’s manufacturing solutions. Autodesk will continue to develop the Alias product lines in conjunction with Autodesk’s complementary products and technologies.
